Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial title for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in particular - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with former trainer his previous coach.

Now training with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his initial trophy since the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt after that period of 2023.

The win also means he has won 21 titles at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my children together, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an better serving game.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a final set.

He defended four early-game opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, he secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
