Large-scale Moscow's Strikes Disrupt Electricity Across Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced escalating attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were wounded while residents in the city's east were experienced blackouts and dealt with disruption to water supplies, per reports from local authorities.

Meanwhile, a minor was fatally injured in a different aerial attack in the southeastern region in the southern area, based on information from area administrators.

Moscow has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while the country's government has requested "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the America, the EU and the major economies - in providing air defence systems and enforcing restrictions," he wrote in a online statement.

Officials stated that 450 drones and over thirty missiles struck energy facilities, characterizing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were working to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles struck electrical systems and apartment buildings in the capital.

Several of the people injured in the assaults on the capital have been taken to hospital, according to municipal representatives.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region experienced significant strikes during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child lost their life and three other people were wounded.

The assaults come after nights of aerial attacks in the area, portions of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to spot.

Government officials told reporters that Russia was intentionally trying to demolish the country's energy grid, with attacks already impacting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and authorities were bracing for more assaults.
